Overview
On November 16, 2022, BFKN Financial Institutions Group partner and Regulatory Section Leader John M. Geiringer hosted a Business Executives for National Security (BENS) meeting featuring General Joseph L. Votel, the President and CEO of BENS. The meeting included other highly experienced professionals in the national security arena, representing various organizations in the private and public sectors.
General Votel discussed great power competition, and how our nation should balance that concern with the ongoing terrorism threat. He also described the various ways in which BENS is working to enhance our nation’s security, including by improving public-private partnerships, addressing supply chain challenges, and enhancing recruiting initiatives.
John is a member of the Chicago chapter of BENS and supports many of its local and nationwide initiatives.
About the Lawyer
John M. Geiringer is a nationally recognized banking attorney who advises financial institutions on regulatory, governance, and investigative matters. John regularly provides focused training sessions to boards and management on a wide range of legal and risk management topics.
About General Joseph L. Votel
General Joseph L. Votel is a retired U.S. Army Four-Star officer and most recently the Commander of the U.S. Central Command – responsible for U.S. and coalition military operations in the Middle East, Levant and Central and South Asia. During his 39 years in the military, he commanded special operations and conventional military forces at every level. His career included combat in Panama, Afghanistan and Iraq. Notably, he led a 79-member coalition that successfully liberated Iraq and Syria from the Islamic State Caliphate. He preceded his assignment at CENTCOM with service as the Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command and the Joint Special Operations Command. To learn more about General Votel, click here.
