Barack Ferrazzano is a proud sponsor of Legal Aid Chicago’s Part 2 Webinar: Domestic Violence, as a part of the organization’s larger educational 8-Part Webinar Series, The Emerging Legal Crisis Facing Chicago’s Black and Brown Communities.
While already suffering the detrimental effects of systemic racism, Cook County’s Black and Brown communities now face the additional disproportionate negative effects of another crisis – the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. These communities have always faced civil legal issues threatening their stability, but COVID-19 is causing a tsunami of eviction, foreclosure, domestic violence, immigration, workers’ rights/employment, public benefits, nursing home, and education cases. The Barack Ferrazzano -sponsored Domestic Violence webinar will provide an in-depth exploration of the domestic violence legal issues facing Black and Brown communities and Legal Aid’s work to address them.
Legal Aid Chicago’s 8-Part Webinar Series includes:
- August 12 – Evictions
- August 19 – Domestic Violence (sponsored by Barrack Ferrazzano)
- August 26 – Home Foreclosures
- September 2 – Workers’ Rights
- September 9 – Long-Term Care Issues
- September 16 – School to Prison Pipeline (sponsored by Barrack Ferrazzano)
- September 23 – Health Inequalities
- September 30 – Barriers to Employment
Each one-hour session will be led by some of Chicago’s leading legal aid lawyers and will be presumptively accredited for 1.0 CLE Credit in Ethics.
