Overview
The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) took part in the day of global giving known on social media as #GivingTuesday. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is meant to use social media as a tool of collaboration towards charitable goals. This year the NIJC took to Twitter asking for donations for Dreamers to aid them in identifying their legal options and applying for permanent status. As one of the NIJC's pro bono partners, Barack Ferrazzano aided this cause by being among those to match donations up to $25,000. By the end of #GivingTuesday, the NIJC smashed their goal, raising more than $50,000, enough to give legal advice to more than 50 Dreamers who are facing uncertainty and possible deportations.
