Overview
Barack Ferrazzano Financial Institutions Group Regulatory Section Leader John Geiringer spoke during the 2016 American Bankers Association ("ABA") State Bankers Associations Counsels Meeting recently held in Santa Fe, New Mexico. John's topic was Bank Examination Legal Issues.
This annual two-day meeting covered issues including law making by state regulatory agencies, elder financial abuse, entering foreclosed property, virtual credit cards, bank acceptance of electronic records, and much more.
The changing landscape of banking law requires the ABA, along with the State Bankers Associations, to consistently evolve to remain effective advocates for the banking industry. Offering legal guidance on the multitude of issues faced by the banking industry is an important responsibility. This annual meeting offered the opportunity to work directly with ABA leaders in federal litigation, legislation and compliance and to stay ahead of new and emerging legal issues.
