BFKN is proud to announce that John M. Geiringer has been appointed to the Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission, where he will contribute his experience and dedication to preserving the memory of past atrocities and promoting education on these critical issues.

John is a nationally recognized banking attorney who advises financial institutions on regulatory, governance, and investigative matters. He serves as the founding Co-Director of the Center for National Security and Human Rights Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he teaches classes on banking, national security, and the Holocaust, and is the co-editor of a forthcoming legal treatise on the Holocaust. John’s appointment reflects his deep commitment to ethical leadership, public service, and historical education.
The Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission promotes and provides guidance on Holocaust and genocide education and commemoration across the state. The Commission offers educators and public and private institutions information and recommendations regarding Holocaust and genocide educational programs, materials, and resources. In addition, the Commission coordinates educational and commemorative events in order to advance awareness about the crimes perpetrated by the Nazi regime and about other genocides throughout history and today.
